Pyl lighting collection by Marie & Alexandre for Petite Friture

Dezeen Showroom: forms and shapes distilled from pylons, signals and beacons make up this lighting collection created by French duo Marie & Alexandre and produced by design brand Petite Friture.

Marie & Alexandre – the studio of Marie Cornil and Alexandre Willaume – first presented the Pyl lighting in their solo exhibition Horizon at Galerie Signé in 2022, where it was discovered by Petite Friture.

The restrained yet fun collection features floor, pendant, wall and ceiling lights, all made up of slender cylinders and jaunty cone shapes.

The compositions have been fine-tuned for functionality and harmony, and the steel bodies are finished in combinations of bright yellow, chilli red, white, black and raw steel – a palette chosen to reference 20th-century Italian design.

The Pyl lighting collection is made with built-in replaceable LEDs, providing both short-term practicality and long-term sustainability.
